Eligibility Criteria
- 1Scientific Officer (via OCES 2026) Qualification:
For Engineering disciplines: B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc.(Engg)/5-year Integrated M.Tech. with ≥60% aggregate in Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Instrumentation, or Civil Engineering (as per Table-1).
For Physics: M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. in Physics or B.E./B.Tech. in Engineering Physics with Physics and Mathematics at B.Sc./subsidiary level, ≥60% aggregate.
For Chemistry: M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. in Chemistry with Physics up to B.Sc. or at subsidiary level, Mathematics at 12th/B.Sc./subsidiary level, ≥60% aggregate.
For Biosciences: M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. in relevant Bioscience subjects (see notification), or B.E./B.Tech. in Food Technology, ≥60% in both B.Sc. and M.Sc.
For Geology: M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc./Equivalent M.Tech. in Geology/Applied Geology with Geology at B.Sc./subsidiary level and two of Maths/Physics/Chemistry at B.Sc./subsidiary level, Maths at 12th, ≥60% in both B.Sc. and postgrad.
For Geophysics: M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. in Geophysics with Mathematics up to B.Sc./subsidiary level, ≥60% in both B.Sc. and postgrad.

Recognition: Qualifying degrees must be full time/on-campus. Correspondence, distance learning, or part-time degrees are NOT eligible. - 2Scientific Officer (via DGFS 2026) Qualification:
Engineering graduate in eligible disciplines (as above), must independently secure M.Tech. admission (for 2026) in a listed DGFS Institute and specialization. Confirmation of M.Tech. admission required after selection notification.
Same minimum eligibility as OCES for discipline (see notification for admissible specializations/institutes, e.g., IITB, IITM).

Selection Process
- 1 Screening to Selection Interview based on: (a) Online Screening Examination (at selected cities), OR (b) GATE-2024/2025/2026 score (relevant paper).
- 2 Selection Interview (Mumbai for all except Geology & Geophysics; Hyderabad for Geology/Geophysics).
- 3 Final selection solely on Interview performance, subject to medical fitness.
